Should we cry/fold this river?

We flop a set, we make a full house on the river....but is this a fold?

Our friends at the Unibet sponsored Chip Race podcast review a hand played by host David Lappin where he found himself in this exact spot. It was in the €1,100 Unibet Open Online Main Event with 15 players left and the final table looming. Dara O'Kearney put this one through the solver to see what the correct lines were with the significant ICM pressure involved.

In this hand our Hero flats an UTG open with 66 on the Button and flops bottom set on a three club flop. He bets small and is called. The turn is an offsuit Ace, he bets again. The river brings another Ace. Our opponent checks, we bet and get check/raised. What do we do?

David polled a number of top pro friends on how to play this hand in real time and Dara is the only one who managed to arrive at an answer close to what the solvers gave.

Expect a detailed discussion on solver lines vs real life exploits, how ICM changes our post flop strategy and how to balance bluffs with value bets. The guys also discuss the lines taken in terms of their actual real money equity.

€40,000 Flop Race in October

at Unibet

The folks at Unibet are hosting another edition of their Flop Race at the cash game tables, this time available every week until November 6.

Until then, players can join three more weekly races, each coming with a total prize pool of €8,000, given away in a low, mid and high leaderboard. To earn points and climb in leaderboard postions, players simply need to reach as many flops as possible in Hold'em or Omaha cash games.

Each leaderboard will run for a single week from Monday until the end of the next Sunday and points are accumulated as per the table:

Points per Flop Low Mid High
1 NL10, DSL100* NL50, SSM10* NL200
1.5 PL10, NL25 PL50, NL100 PL200, NL400
2 PL25 PL100 PL400
*Shortstack Master games running Mondays are counting for the mid-tier, while Deepstack Legend games running Thursdays are counting for the low-tier.

Additionally, there's a daily bonus of 30 points that you can win by simply reaching 100 flops on a single day.

Even better, Unibet is also offering a consolation bonus. If you have a tough day at the tables, you’ll get one point for every Euro lost (up to the limits below):

  • Low: €10/10 Points
  • Mid: €50/50 Points
  • High: €200/200 Points
