Modifications to the PokerStars VIP Program

As the new year gets rolling, PokerStars has announced some changes to its VIP Program. Starting 1st January, 2010, all VIPs will be able to convert their VPPs to cash via the "Stellar Rewards Program". Annually, up to $1,000 can be cashed out for 90,000 VPPs.

In addition to that, PokerStars will relax the eligibility requirements for 2 VIP levels. Soon, you will be able to achieve Silver status by earning just 750 VPPs per month, instead of 1,200 VPPs. The Supernova status will also be much easier to retain, requiring only 7,500 VPPs per month in the coming year, rather than 10,000 VPPs if you have been Supernova in 2009 already.

Simultaneously, it will also become much easier to collect VPPs from 1st January onwards. SnG and MTT players especially, will be able to collect them faster. Whoever then finds their way into the elite circle of VIPs, will be eligible to participate in a $1,000,000 freeroll, held quarterly, and replacing the $75,000 freeroll.

Players with Gold or Platin status can qualify for this tournament via satellites.

Stellar Rewards: Overview and Examples

Once you've earned your first 750 VPPs in 2010, you'll get $10 for just one FPP in the PokerStars Shop. As soon as you have 1,500 VPPs, you can take out another $10 cash bonus in exchange for an FPP. With 90,000 VPPs, you can cash-out all the way to $1,000.
