The biggest Sunday Million in history

PokerStars and every other operator enjoyed a Sunday where all the guarantees were crushed and new records were set.

For obvious reasons online poker is booming right now and everyone assumed the $12.5 million Anniversary Sunday Million was going to be something special. That is an understatement. 

At the time of writing it has attracted 86,388 entries, smashing the $12.5 million guarantee and crushing the tournament's previous record of 62,116 entries for this event.

The truly remarkable thing is that registration is still open and satellites are still running to this $215 event. Players have until 18:00 CET to enter or re-enter, which means we could see the cap of 107,000 entries reached. This would make it the biggest tournament prize pool of all time, (just) beating the $21,385,000 record set by partypoker's Online MILLIONS. 

Right now the top prize is $1,503,660 but should the cap be reached we might be looking at something closer to $2 million. Around 17,000 players remain and over 12,000 will make the money, which will make late registering today profitable. 

It wasn't just PokerStars enjoying a good day, every operator saw their Sunday Majors thrive. GGPoker increased the guarantee for the $150 GGMasters to $400,000 from $300,000 and beat it easily with 2,985 runners. 888poker hosted their multi day $109 MILLIONS Superstorm and attracted a very impressive 11,618 players, beating the $1 million guarantee. The €100 Unibet SuperNova also had its best ever outing, with 341 unique entries to smash their €20,000 guarantee. 

Although we are living in worrying and uncertain times, including for the poker industry, the online game is enjoying a remarkable boost right now thanks to so many people remaining indoors.
