The WSOP Main Event is the biggest online MTT ever
The biggest prize in online poker history and a Main Event title will be awarded this weekend at GGPoker.
It may not be in Las Vegas but the World Series of Poker Main Event has exceeded expectations and broken records.
After 23 starting flights a total of 5,802 entries in the $5,000 buy-in event created a prize pool of $27,559,500, which is the biggest prize pool ever for an online MTT. Bigger than the previous record of $21,835,000 set by the 2018 partypoker Online MILLIONS and also bigger than its own lofty guarantee of $25,000,000.
728 players make the money with a mincash being worth $11,834 and the winner eventually taking down $3,904,686. That also makes this the biggest prize ever awarded in an online MTT by quite a margin. In fact the second place prize of $2,748,605 is also bigger than the previous overall prize record of $2,329,943 won in that 2018 partypoker event.

It has been something of a bumpy ride for GGPoker for the first ever online WSOP, but the story people will most likely remember is a relatively small name in the online poker space coming from nowhere to host both the biggest festival in poker as well as the biggest single tournament in online poker history.
Day 2 concluded with 38 players with Byran Piccioli, Stefan Schillhabel and bencb among the notables still in the mix. They have all secured $39,214 and now take a break where play will resume on September 5 when they will play down to six, then play down to a champion the following day.
