Doyle Brunson documentary in the works

The creators of The Last Dance turn their attention to poker with a documentary about the life of Texas Dolly.

The poker world is still looking for that next great fictional movie about the game but we could soon have one of the great documentaries. 

Doyle Brunson confirmed yesterday that a documentary about his life is in the works. 

What should really get poker fans excited is that the creators of The Last Dance, the 10-part Netflix series about the career of Michael Jordan, are the team behind it. 

They are making a documentary about my life now. It has been going on for a month and is going to be a lot longer. Same group that did The Last Dance is doing it. https://t.co/oBWdiwnSX8

A deep well to tap into

There have been plenty of poker documentaries before, some of them very good in particular Bet Raise Fold, but this is a very promising sign. 

The Last Dance is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed sports documentaries of all time. It gets 97% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and is frequently praised by people who do not even watch basketball. 

If you have read some of the biographies of Doyle Brunson and his road gambler friends, you'll know there is a very deep well to get stories from for this production.
