Scott Stewart wins WPT World Championship

A three-way deal in the World Poker Tour finale at the Wynn saw Scott Stewart emerge with the title and $2.3 million.

2,392 runners for the $10,400 World Poker Tour Championship event this year. A very healthy number, but a significant drop off from the 3,835 of last year. 

That was because of that $50 million guaranteed event in the Bahamas, with no guarantee in Vegas, and the WPT turned their attention to that $5 million freeroll. 

The headline of the final table was UK crusher Chris Moorman making this final table for the 2nd straight year, starting in 2nd place, just as he did last year. Our very own LemOn36 caught up with him before the final table.

Amazingly, he came 4th this time around...just like he did last year. No doubt disappointed but he has bagged over $3 million from this event in the last 12 months. 

With the elimination of Moorman, the final three players - Rob Sherwood, Eddie Pak and Scott Stewart agreed on a three-way deal which eventually saw Stewart take it down for $2,563,900, the title and a seat in this event next year. 

“No plans for the money, but plans to have some fun and I can’t be more excited,” said Stewart following his victory. “I got the best friends in the world… A lot of friends came out. Shout out to you guys. You’re the best. We like to have fun, anything we do. We had a little bit of extra fun today and it was worth it.”

Next up for the World Poker Tour is the WPT Prime Championship in Cambodia which starts on February 14, 2025.
