Jamie Gold Signs With Poker Icons

Home to the likes of Annete Obrestad, Soren Kongsgaard and Juha Helppi, Poker Icons will now be the home of Jamie Gold (pictured right). He is the winner of the biggest poker tournament payout in history, as he won $12 million at the 2006 World Series Of Poker.

With new offices recently opened in London and Maccau, the global expansion of Poker Icons was certainly likely to have enticed Gold to its fold and no doubt aid his charity poker events; something Jamie Gold is appreciated for.

Poker Icons is by no means Jamie Gold’s first outing within the poker industry. Indeed he is quite familiar with signing on.

Prior to the money rush of 2006, he joined online poker room Bodog but they severed ties as the ink settled. This was followed up in February this year by Aced but this relationship lasted an even shorter period of time with Gold leaving recently, his only major win being winning the Dream Team Poker Tournament.

Gold’s first project with Poker Icons will be a charity tournament at the world-famous Cannes Film Festival in the south of France. On May 17, Gold and Rounders star Ed Norton will host a celebrity poker night to raise money for the Sunflower Children Foundation and the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation.

Jamie Gold has a controversial history in the poker world. His continued goading of opponents and disclosing of his cards during the 2006 Main Event was seen as a step too far by many. He even turned and showed one of his cards during one famous hand but was never penalised.

After the win Crispin Leyser claimed Jamie Gold had shaken on an agreement to half any of his winning, a claim that God later denied. The case went to court and Jamie Gold eventually settled with Leyser for an undisclosed sum.
