Ryan Reynolds stars in new poker movie

'Mississippi Grind' debuts at the Sundance Film Festival this week, and should be in cinemas before the end of the year.

Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds is the star of a new poker flick coming to screens in 2015 called 'Mississippi Grind'.

The film is about two gamblers trying to roll up a stake for a high stakes poker game in New Orleans.

Co-star Ben Mendehlson plays Gerry, a talented poker player who's struggling to come to terms with the swings of the game.

Curtis, a younger grinder played by Reynolds, is convinced by Gerry to join him on his journey toward the big tournament. The two bond on the road as their true motivations in life are revealed.

"It's very much a character piece, as both main parts have different agendas," says co-director Ryan Fleck.

"Gerry wants to win his money and change his life and pay off his debts, while Curtis' motivations are a lot more mysterious. We don't know why he's going on this journey until it reveals itself later on in the film."

The famous Sundance Film Festival will debut the movie - which also stars the likes of Sienna Miller and Analeigh Tipton - later this week.

Does Mississippi Grind have the potential to be the best themed poker film since Rounders? Will there be too much pit game/sports betting action going on - as the two images would suggest - for it to be classed as a "poker film"? Let us know your thoughts below.
