$10 million Guaranteed Sunday Million announced
PokerStars unveil one of their biggest tournaments ever for the 10th Anniversary of the Sunday Million
It has been almost a decade since PokerStars' flagship weekly tournament the Sunday Million made its debut, and on Sunday, March 20 the $215 event has a special guarantee.
Not only will the overall prize pool be at least $10 million, there is also a guaranteed $1 million to the eventual winner.
In another surprise move, players will be allowed up to three re-entries until late registration ends three hours into the tournament.
Satellites will be running around the clock including 1,200 seats being given away in Hyper Turbo freerolls, as well as two big Deadline satellites on the day of the tournament. An $11 Deadline Satellite at 13:45 ET will guarantee 1,000 seats, and a $33 Deadline Satellite at 14:05 ET will guarantee 333 seats.
A decade of life-changing prizes
The first Sunday Million took place on March 5, 2006. It featured 5,893 players and was won by ‘aaaaaaaa’ from Canada for $173,843.50.
The largest Sunday Million took place during PokerStars’ 10th Anniversary celebration in December 2011. It featured 62,116 players and set a record online poker prize pool of $12,423,200. That tournament was won by ‘First-Eagle’ of Canada for $1,146,574.65.
Most of Team PokerStars are expected to play, with ElkY, Jaime Staples, George Danzer, Felix Schneiders and Jorge Limon all already confirming they will be streaming their play on Twitch.
