Fedor Holz quits professional poker
After winning more than $10,000,000 over the last six weeks, CrownUpGuy claims he is done with the professional game.
In a surprise statement, Fedor 'crownupguy' Holz this week took time out from his WSOP schedule to announce to Pokernews that he will not be continuing as a professional poker player.
It was only last year that the PokerStrategist started out on an epic hot streak which has seen the German scoop $18,051,950 over the last fourteen months but now cites exhaustion and personal satisfaction as his motivation to find another lifestyle.
While he will continue to play poker at some level, this year's Big Drop High Roller champion, who bagged $4,981,775 for his win on Tuesday, certainly won't struggle to fund his new lifestyle, something he is as yet undecided on.
Relax and play a little less
From his interview, it seems that, while his love for the game runs deep, he feels that poker is ultimately a pursuit of enrichment and that he would like to do something less "selfish" and give something back to the community, while also finding the time to travel.
“I’m very dependent on getting my personal time, recharging batteries, I can feel it that I’m drained and super exhausted after live trips and but that’s also what I like because it’s so intense. Let’s say it like this, I play about 2000-3000 hours of poker per year, talking about it or coaching or playing, and I feel like I enjoy the top 400 hours of it and the rest is just like work”.
At the time of writing, Holz, ninth in the all-time earnings list, is still competing in the Main Event but, barring a turn out in the November Nines, the 22 year old appears to be calling time on a fast but ultra-successful career.
Is he bluffing and we will see him back at the tables anytime soon?
