Amsterdam Master Classics Of Poker In Full Progress

On November 7th, the Amsterdam Master Classics of Poker kicked off. The biggest Omaha tournament in Europe was not the only event to entice pros and some PokerStrategists to the tables. Today, the final table of the NL Hold'em Event is played.

The first events have been decided, and the Main Event is in full progress. Amongst the players in the Holland Casino are also Florian 'Morgoth' Langmann and psychobenny.

Tureniec and Sunar win the first Events

The Master Classics started with a No-Limit Hold'em Event, with a buy-in of €1,000 + €50. One rebuy was allowed, and the Norwegian M. Tureniec prevailed over 305 other players, grabbing the win and the prize money of €158,720. His opponent in the heads-up was Jörg Peisert from Germany, who received €91,136.

The biggest Omaha event in Europe followed on November 8th. The buy-in was again €1,000 + €50, which was paid by 186 players. Another 126 rebuys generated a prize pool of €316,000.

The decision took place between the Spaniard Raoul Perez and Englishman Surinder Sunar. The latter one secured the tourney win after a rather lengthy heads-up. In the decisive hand, Perez held and was all-in. Sunar held . The board of gave him a full house and thus also a prize money of €105,400. Perez had to be content with €57,000.

PokerStrategist and Pros in the Main Event

Known coach and MTT expert Florian 'Morgoth' Langmann (picture on the left) also played in the first two events, but he didn't finish in the money. In the Main Event, which started on Tuesday, he was eliminated on Day 2 along with PokerStrategist psychobenny.

335 players paid €6,000 + €200 to participate along with several pros, including Andy
Black, Freddy Deeb, Bertrand „Elky" Grospellier, Sorel Mizzi, Isabell
Mercier, Rolf Slotboom, Noah Boeken, Michael Keiner and Rino Mathis amongst others.

Many of them didn't fare so well, however. Rino Mathis survived Day 2 and was thus in the money, but at the end of yesterday's Day 3, only Sorel Mizzi, Freddy Deeb and Rolf Slotboom could still be found amongst the remaining 37 players.

The best chance of them had Mizzi, who started into the day as third in the chip count with 194,000 in chips. However, he was eliminated along with the other pros before reaching the final table. As 15th, he ended up with €22,110.

The last nine players who will determine the winner today are facing a clear chip lead. The Swede Nikolas Liakos will enter the race with about one million in chips, and has a lead of over 350,000 chips on the runner-up in the chip count. Thus he currently has the best shot at winning the Main Event.

Further Events until Saturday

The Amsterdam Master Classics of Poker offer three more events. Already yesterday started a 3-day €2,500 + €100 No-Limit Hold'em
tournament. Today, another 2-day No-Limit Hold'em tourney with a buy-in of €500 + €50 will begin. Finally, a single-day Speed tourney will kick off tomorrow, also in the variant No-Limit Hold'em and a buy-in of €300 + €30.
