Another record breaking event on the World Poker Tour
Yet another field size record broken and a major result for female players as 50% of the final table at the Venetian were women.
More signs the live poker market, in the US at least, is very healthy post lockdown, especially for the World Poker Tour.
This year the tour has already broken several records for biggest field in its 19 year history and another one was broken this week. The WPT Venetian event attracted 1,199 entries which made it the biggest ever $5,000 buy-in Main Event the tour has ever hosted.
Even more notable this time around was one of the best ever showings for female players on the WPT or any high stakes tour. There have been female WPT champions before but yesterday three women made the final table of six.
Kitty Kuo, Kyna England and Daniela Rodriguez all secured at least $192,855 and for the first time in the tour's history, women made up 50% of the whole final table. Kyna England was the highest ranked of all of them, coming 3rd for $448,755.
That left Chad Eveslage to take it down for $910,370 and the title after beating Mike Liang heads-up.
