Book deal for Bilzerian

We round-up some stories you may have missed, including the Tournament of Champions and poker rejected as a sport.

Book deal for Dan Bilzerian

While his antics ultimately might not be good for the reputation of poker, there is little doubt that Dan Bilzerian is at the very least, interesting.

According to gossip site PageSix, interesting enough to land him a book deal to talk about his PlayBoy lifestyle. 'Blitz' is expected to be released towards the end of the year, and the man himself gave a hint as to what to expect:

A lot of people think I got the world handed to me, and I let them think exactly that because life is all in the setup.

We are not entirely sure what that means, but for the Bilzerian fans who like girls, cars, guns, and can read, this might be the book for them.

Poker rejected as a sport

Earlier this year we brought the news that SportAccord looked poised to accept poker as an official 'MindSport'

However, that has temporarily been put on hold, not for any comment on the game itself, but to allow the Federation to appoint a new President.

That happened last week when Patrick Baumann was elected the new President, following the resignation of Marius Vizer in 2015, so hopefully we will see poker inducted as previously expected very soon.

Last weekend the World Poker Tour hosted their first ever WPT Tournament of Champions, which was an invite-only event for former WPT title holders, with Farid Yachou taking down top honours.

Last year he won the first ever WPT Amsterdam event to secure his place in this event, and last week he defeated a field of 64 WPT Champions to win the title and $381,600 first prize

Maybe even more impressive was the added sponsor prizes he won, which included an Aurae Solid Gold MasterCard, a BBO poker table, a Hublot King Power Titanium watch, a seat into Tiger Woods's charity poker tournament and a 2016 Corvette.
