PartyPoker issued invitations for a $530 high roller event and 219 players answered the call of our partner room, among them coach stephenhendry. $109,000 were in the pool and there were almost $30,000 to be won with a first place finish.
It all kicked off with 5,000 in chips and blinds of 10/20. The structure offered more freedom to play and StephenHendry knew how to make use of it – including a 30/70 situation which the MTT coach won: with five remaining tables, StephenHendry cracked his opponents with A-Q and doubled his stack.
"The call was probably not the best to make, but you have to at least win one 30/70 situation somehow or other in the course of a tournament, so why not at the middle stage?;)"

Calm and professional play

Up to the final table stephenhendry succeeded in playing calm and professional poker and went on enlarging his stack. With roughly 140K in chips he entered the finale as the second big stack. At this point, PokerStrategist koki88 was in the lead holding roughly 300k in chips. The average was at 110K.

With six remaining players at the final table, it all came down to a key hand between StephenHendry and koki.

stephenhendry commenting on this in his subsequent statement: "Of course, I follow the ICM and pay attention to the payout structure, but here I found a clear call, because firstly, I didn't want to picked on by the chip leader and secondly, I wanted to get in the chip lead myself to be able to dominate the final table."
The next highlight occurred three-handed. Stephen as well as koki wanted to make a deal, but the third in the league, calling himself Baden1 on PartyPoker, didn't agree to the deal. Immediately in the next hand, StephenHendry open raised with K-J, Baden pushed all-in for 17 BB, StephenHendry called, Baden turned over A-9, the board came Q-T-x-x-A giving StephenHendry the straight.

Prompt deal in twos

In twos, a deal was arranged promptly. According to the ICM, a chip lead of 3,5 to 1 in favour of StephenHendry brought along roughly $26,500 for the chip leader. loserkoki received approximately $20,500 and 500 went back to the pool. Find the key hand in the box below.
