WSOP Main Event Day 1A
The first 60 bracelet events of the 2012 WSOP are over, as Dominik Nitsche and Nick Schulman have just taken down events #59 and #60 respectively. 21 year old Nitsche secured the second bracelet for Germany this year with the win in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em, and in another double, this is the second time that Schulman has won the $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship, having also won it previously in 2009.
Which means all eyes can turn towards the $10,000 Main Event. 1,066 entries on Day 1A is an increase on last year, however this year there is one less starting day, so it is not yet certain whether this is a good sign or not.
657 players be returning for day 2A action, with William John coming back with the biggest stack of 266,700. Michael Tureniec, Ronny Kaiser, Allen Cunningham, Isaac Haxton, Toby Lewis, Faraz Jaka, Mike Matusow, and Andy Black are all among the notable players who survived the first day.
Defending champion Piuz Heinz chose to play today, and spent most of the day nursing a short stack. However, he managed to find a double up at the end of the day to come back on day 2A with 39,275.
One former main event champion who wont be back for another day is Phil Hellmuth, who chose to forgo his trademark extravagant entrance this year, and was unfortunately eliminated on the last level of the day.

Twitter fans may remember Tatjana Pasalic losing a prop bet to boyfriend McClean Karr, which stipulated that she had to wear a cat suit in the main event. Well that day has come, and it was worth the wait. Tatjana still has plenty to smile about, as she was one of the survivors from today, coming back for day 2A with 18,325.

WSOP National Championship final table
Another major WSOP event has reached the final table stage today, the WSOP National Championship. This is an exclusive invite-only event which comprised of WSOP Player of the Year and WSOP-C leader board qualifiers. There is a bracelet at the end of this event, although it is not part of the official 61 bracelet events on this year's schedule.
157 players in total entered the $10,000 event, and they have been reduced to a final table of 8, which will take place on Wednesday July 11. The first place prize is $416,051 and the final table looks like this:
