Daily Rewind: More Takes on Lederer, Negreanu's Bet, Pros Get Sporty

Doyle on Lederer

Doyle Brunson was busy putting his virtual pen to paper yesterday in a new blog post entitled: A Man Isn't Finished when he is Defeated. He is Finished when he Quits.

The entry starts off with an account of the recent dry spell affecting the cash games in Las Vegas, but it's his take on the Howard Lederer interview which is main thrust of the piece.

Having made no secret of the fact he thought Howard and Chris Ferguson were ignorant to much of what was going on, the interview largely met Doyle's expectations:

"I've watched the Lederer Files and they are exactly what I expected. I was widely criticized for saying that I believe that Howard and Chris didn’t know the terrible condition Full Tilt was in."

He goes on to say: "Does this absolve everyone from wrongdoing? No, of course not, but I think any reasonable person will say that Bitar did many things that no one was aware of. In my mind, before Black Friday, not only the board, but all the FT stockholders were complacent and guilty of negligence."

Doyle also touched on Jack Binion's bid for Full Tilt, saying: "I was involved with the deal Jack Binion was trying to make and there was plenty of hope that FT was going to survive and become a viable company."

He finishes by asking people not to bombard him with further questions on the situation as the truth may never be known.

Lederer to stay silent

Doyle's recent blog post about Full Tilt ends with the comment: "History usually tells us what the real facts are. In this case, the true facts might never be known for sure."

While this may still turn out to be correct, it seems the noose around Howard's neck is going to get a bit tighter.

Having promised Diamond Flush and interview, the man at the centre of the discussions has decided to pull out of the agreement because the whole process has been "much harder on [he] and his family than he expected".

A disappointed Diamond Flush broke the news on Twitter today before posting an article to clarify the situation.

It transpires that the interview was scheduled to take place yesterday and that Diamond Flush was going to question Howard on a number of issues that hadn't been addressed yet.

However, that will no longer happen as Howard will not be taking part in any more interviews. Fortunately, that's not going to be the end of the story as Diamond Flush is moving to "plan B".

Over the course of next week they will be releasing a series of articles detailing some of the points not covered by the previous two interviews, as well as some of the questions which would have been asked.

Lederer feeling stressed

Negreanu wants to beat

Always one for a challenge, Daniel Negreanu has taken to Twitter to offer anyone with enough cash to bet on his chances of cracking the GPI's top 20.

Currently sitting in 31st place on the global tournament ranking system, Daniel is willing to discuss odds with people who'd like to bet he can’t move up at least 11 places by the WSOP next year.

Additionally he is also prepared to offer 3.5-1 against the proposition that he can't make the top 10 within the same timeframe.

Prospective punters can also bet that any player currently behind Daniel in the rankings will overtake him by the time next summer's Las Vegas tournament fiesta begins.

Prop bet brewing

Despite there being a high stakes tournament somewhere in the world almost every week, the poker community's best players still can't find enough action.

Indeed, a prop bet between Matt "ADZ124" Marafioti, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Justin "Stealthmunk" Schwartz is currently in the making.

Inspired by Katchalov and Grospellier's recent bet, and following a comment about the fitness of certain poker pros, Marafioti is keen to prove his manliness in a series of physical challenges.

Discussions are currently taking place over Twitter and it looks like this could be another high stakes proper bet for the railbirds to enjoy.
