PokerStars seem to have made a habit of breaking records in recent years, but their latest feat is arguably one of their most impressive.
As part of their 100 Billionth Hand celebrations, the online site set out to host the largest poker tournament the world has ever seen.
Taking place yesterday, the gargantuan event saw 225,000 players ante-up $1 for a shot at the $25,000 top prize.
After breaking the previous record by 25,000 players, the top prize eventually went to Russia's "Mr.SlavaPro" who bested "johnnykara" ($15,000) from Greece to claim a historic win.
Also running well and finishing sixth for $3,500 was kari9.
Geilich wins UKIPT Marbella

After making his way past more than 750 sun-seeking grinders, Ludovic Geilich has become the latest UKIPT champion.
Having started yesterday's Marbella final table as one of the dominant forces, Geilich saw his stack soar after just a few orbits thanks to Fernando Curto's mistimed four-bet.
After engaging in a raising war with Curto, Geilich was able to win an easy pot with pocket aces after his opponent pocket sixes received no help from the dealer.
As the field thinned and only three players remained, Geilich was able to lock up €116,000 after some financial negotiations, before watching Pablo Rojas dispatched with Kamil Hrabia.
Now, with just one player in his way, Geilich was able to scoop the extra €14,000 on offer, as well as his first UKIPT trophy, when his pocket nines outran Rojas's 
.

Boudreau's WSOP scare

| Boudreau in trouble |
While disappointment and sadness often strike players at the WSOP, such emotions pale in comparison to the fate that recently befell Kevin "Phwap" Boudreau.
A familiar face in the community, Boudreau was rushed to hospital on Saturday during the break of the $3,000 Mix Max event.
A sudden blood clot on the brain forced doctors to place Kevin into a coma to help stabilise his condition, much to the dismay of close friends Peter Jetten and Tom "durrrr" Dwan.
Many famous players have tweeted their support for Kevin in the last 24 hours, including Jetten who wrote:
"[Kevin] had a very large blood clot in his brain. Will likely be in ICU for weeks, doctors say it's not looking good."
Just a few days ago Kevin was looking healthy and producing video blogs about the WSOP.

An impressive field of 568 players took to the virtual felt to compete in yesterday's $1.10 NLHE turbo rebuy.
After 633 rebuys and 380 add-ons the tournament finally entered the business end of proceedings and when it came to handing out medals it was Germany's jopan111 who just missed out.
Having made it as far as the final four, jopan111 eventually hit the rail in fourth and took home $133 which, allowed "Goburei" to clinch the bronze medal and $252 for Japan.
Left with just two players, the tournament came to an abrupt end after killyourself61 from Belarus forced Bulgaria's "VaNkaTa!112" to accept second place and $342, while he claimed gold and $470.
