Sorel Mizzi was once the highest rated online tournament player in the world. However, after a series of misdemeanours he fell from grace and became one of the game's most infamous cheaters.

Since then the Canadian has worked hard to repair his reputation and in a recent blog post he described his poker life in full detail.

Candid and honest, Sorel's problems in poker started almost immediately as he "was cheated out of [his] entire net worth in a hotel poker game".

Although ranked as the top online tournament player in the world, Sorel now had a depleted bankroll and a chip on his shoulder at just 21 years old.

Following this incident, Sorel's first misstep was to take control of a friend's account late in a major online tournament. After that he slowly became the person he "was accused of being".

Living in the poker world as a condemned man, Sorel decided to confront the situation and, according to his blog, he is using his past to "redefine" his values and "strengthen" his character.

Deal causes a storm

Sometimes a final table deal can work against a player, but sometimes it banks them more cash than they expected.

One player who certainly has superior negotiation skills is "Mojje87".

Having waded through more than 38,000 players to reach the finale of yesterday's Sunday Storm on PokerStars, the Swedish grinder managed to take home more than the advertised top prize.

With just five players left the tournament was paused and, after assessing the numbers, the remaining contestants were happy to give more than $28,000 to "Mojje87".

An additional $6,000 for the eventual winner meant a dominant display from "Mojje87" would net him a total of $35,635; which was over $4,000 than the winner was scheduled to get.

Predictably "Mojje87" won the event and on top of taking home more money than everyone expected, he earned over $21,000 more than second place finisher: "xArcibaldsx".

A tough year for Gus

Yesterday's high stakes action saw "SallyWoo" continue their positive run at the virtual felt with a profit of $241,688.

Fresh from their destruction of Gus Hansen, the nosebleed grinder is now up almost $1 million in the last 72 hours.

Indeed, a solid three days of poker had seen "SallyWoo" break the seven figure mark; however, a series of small losses left them on $760,363 at the end of yesterday's session.

The winning streak puts their overall profit for 2012 at $558,207, which is some way behind the year's biggest winner Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky who has banked $3,581,763.

At the other end of the spectrum, Gus Hansen dropped over $500,000 yesterday to fall even further into the red for 2012.

The Dane is now looking at a deficit of $3,109,619 this year, which is almost $2 million more than "patpatpanda" who's currently the year's second biggest loser.
