Dan Smith and Scott Seiver win bracelets

Two notable US based pros were among the early winners at the World Series of Poker over the weekend.

Another high profile player is removed from the 'best without a bracelet' conversation as Dan Smith captured his first WSOP bracelet in the $25,000 Heads-up Championship. 

He defeated Jake Daniels, Laszlo Bujtas, Alex Foxen, Jonathan Jaffe, Dario Sammartino and runner-up Christoph Vogelsang to take the title and $509,717 first prize. 

“I’m not typically a very sentimental person,” Smith said. “I remember before the One Drop final table, everyone was like, ‘how important is it for you to be playing for this bracelet?’ and I was, ‘I’m focused on the $10 million today.’ Today it really is, and was about the bracelet.”

Seiver takes down number 4

High stakes regular Scott Seiver was another well known name in the winner's circle over the weekend. He took down the $2,500 Freezeout event for $320,059 after besting a field of 752.

“I feel great,” Seiver said. “I just was really fired up to play a bunch of tournaments. There is something just so special about the World Series of Poker. The past few years, I’ve only played a few events here and there, and I kind of wanted to just, you know, push it a little bit and see how I felt. So far, so good."

With this win Seiver became the third player to bag their 4th career bracelet this year alongside David Peters and Brad Ruben, who won the $1,500 Dealer's Choice event.
