EPT Copenhagen: Swede Wins Marathon Final Table

22 year-old Swedish pro Anton Wigg was crowned the new champion of the EPT Copenhagen after a twelve hour long final table. The heads-up match itself was between Wigg and Francesco de Vivo and it lasted for almost four hours.

423 players registered for the DKK 37,250 buy-in PokerStars European Poker Tour Main Event in Casino Copenhagen, Denmark. The total prize-pool for the event was DKK 14,212,800 ($2,601,323).

After six days of play, Swedish poker pro Anton Wigg emerged as the champion and took home DKK 3,675,000 ($672,677) for his efforts. Former Italian Player of the Year Francesco de Vivo finished in second place.

Eastgate and Elky in the money

A number of famous faces were also on show at the event as Annette Obrestad, Dario Minieri, Peter Eastgate, Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier and Viktor Blom all bought in to play in this event. Eastgate finished 22nd in his home EPT event while Elky was further behind in 40th place.

Wigg and de Vivo battled for close to four hours before a winner was found. De Vivo held a better than 8-to-1 lead at one point, but Wigg fought back valiantly to clinch his maiden EPT win.

In the final hand of the night, Wigg, who by then had built a small chip lead, announced all-in after de Vivo had re-raised from the big blind. De Vivo called with but found himself behind Wigg's . The board came , and Wigg's better hand held up.
