First WSOPE bracelet claimed by Oleksandr Shcherbak

Ukrainian Shcherbak wins first bracelet of new series plus news of other high profile MTT wins.

The first bracelet of this year’s WOSPE at the King's Casino in Rozvadov has been claimed by Ukrainian Oleksandr Shcherbak after he saw off 561 rivals in the €1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack last week. The €500k guaranteed prizepool was breached by €38,280 and Shcherbak takes home a slice worth €117,708 for his efforts.

Victory came at the expense of Bulgarian pro Viliyan Petleshkov who, after 36-hands of head-up play, had to settle for second place and a reward of €72,747. For Shcherbak, the win represents his inaugural live tournament win as well as only his second ever live cash following a cash place in August's PokerStars National Championships in Barcelona.

Fast wins money in Macau

In Macau, German pro Dietrich Fast outlasted a field of 79 in the Asia Championship of Poker shot-clock Super High Roller. Entry cost $102,520 and Fast was rewarded with a very cool $2,169,700 payday which feeds into lifetime live earnings of $6,272,224.

Notables in attendance included Jason Koon, Bryn Kenney and Tim Adams who all cashed as did 2nd place finisher Steve O’Dwyer who walked away some $1,542,450 richer.

Loren Klein wins second Run It Up title

Yesterday at the Reno Peppermint Spa Casino, Loren Klein landed a $46,300 jackpot as he won the Run It Up Reno Main Event, his second Run It Up Main Event title and he now becomes the first double Main Event winner since Run It Up began.

424 entered, all looking for a taste of the $150,000 prizepool but in the end, it all boiled down to Klein and Andrew Cha in a heads-up that went the way of the former, who earlier this year also became a two-time WSOP champion and now boasts career earnings of $1,642,014.
