Foxwoods WPT: Days 1a and 1b
The Foxwood World Poker Tour Days 1a and 1b are over, with Jason "JP OSU" Potter and Phil Ivey being their respective chip leaders.
The World Poker Tour at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut
kicked off on the US election day, with Day 1a gathering only 162 players, compared to last year's 575. Day 1b saw more players coming, as 250 people arrived and sat at the tables.
The Foxwoods World Poker Tour Finals take place from November 5 to November 11, with a total of $3,876,508 in cash prizes for the top 50 players. The winner of the entire event gets to leave the Casino $1,120,310 richer.
Jason "JP OSU" Potter was the Day 1a chip leader. He was already leading the field, as he had around 80,000 chips, but he won the pot of the day when he flopped top set against a middle set. Thanks to that hand, Potter built his stack to 150,000, and finished the day with more than 180,000 in chips. Here are the top 10 players for Day 1a:

While Day 1a was not exactly packed with people, Day 1b had 250 players going to the tables and they are all lead by none other than Phil Ivey. More familiar faces came today as well, making the event that much more interesting: Daniel Negreanu, Chris “Jesus” Fersuson, Mike Matusow, and Howard Lederer were seen at the tables today.
With his 183,675, Phil Ivey is just 125 chips behind Day 1a chip leader, Jason Potter. Here are the Day 1b top 10 players:
