GGNetwork adds 'bubble protection' for early registration

Get your buy-in back if you stone bubble the tournament, but only if you registered before it started.

Bubble

If you have been around live poker for a long time you will have heard about bubble protection, where you pay a small premium to insure yourself against busting out just before the money.

Now the GGNetwork, home of Natural8, is offering it for free. All players have to do to get it automatically is register for the tournament before it begins.

This is a move designed clearly to attract recreational players, speed up bubbles and, by rewarding early registration, meet more guarantees and reduce the edge gained from late regging

For tournaments with a minimum of 10 players, 'early birds' will get their buy-ins refunded to them if they finish just shy of the money, based on the following numbers:

Minimum Entrants Maximum Entrants Bubble Players
10 99 1
100 499 2
500 999 3
1,000 1,999 4
2,000 2,999 5
3,000 3,999 6
4,000 5,999 7
6,000 7,999 8
8,000 9,999 9
10,000 - 10

Under other circumstances this is just a case of moving the bubble itself by a few places with some extra break even mincashes, were it not for the stipulation that early registration is required. Practically speaking it should attract some more casual players and speed up the bubble because there is still a stigma in tournaments for being the 'bubble boy or girl'.
