George Danzer is the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year
Brandon Shack-Harris fought hard, but an awesome three-bracelet haul proved enough for the German.
After an intense race that went right down to the wire, German Team PokerStars pro and PokerStrategist has won the 2014 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the Year title.
Brandon Shack-Harris was unlucky to miss out, as he was actually ahead of Danzer on points before the 10-event Asia-Pacific (APAC) festival began in Australia.
However, after a couple of swings in momentum, Danzer struck what proved to be the knockout blow by claiming an incredible third bracelet of the series in a $5,000 8-game event.
After that setback, Shack-Harris needed to finish second or better in the $10K Main Event, or fourth or better in the final $25K High Roller event to claw back the 95-point gap, but that proved a bridge too far for the American, and Danzer was finally confirmed as champion.
Although i enjoyed the sweat i am relieved now that the race is over. And i know @Oscillator_WSOP is going to get another chance. Mad props.

Cody, Spindler and Gordillo in contention at EPT London
Elsewhere in the world of tournament poker, Day 4 of play is now underway at the EPT London Main Event.
At the start of the day, the likes of Triple Crown winner Jake Cody, Benny Spindler - who won EPT London back in 2011 - and Pablo Gordillo - who miraculously won three huge online tournaments in a single day - all boasted top ten chip stacks.
They, along with Team PokerStars pros Liv Boeree and Mickey Petersen, are still in contention at the time of writing.
