German newcomer wins record EPT High Roller

A cash game grinder from Germany has just taken down the biggest 100k EPT event of all time, after only just switching to MTTs.

While the prospects for record fields might look slim at the WSOP, live poker continues to thrive in Europe. 

EPT Monte Carlo has just hosted the largest six-figure buy-in even in European Poker Tour history. 74 entries in total for the €100,000 event, which is their best High Roller yet. 

It was a stacked final table that included Triton regulars Seth Davis, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Leon Sturm, Jason Koon and Mikita Badziakouski. However, it was a newcomer who took it down. 

Chris Nguyen of Germany is a cash game player who has only just turned his attention to tournaments, and what a way to start. He defeated Enrico Camosci heads-up for the €2,022,000 first prize.

“It’s just fun for me, I think,” Nguyen said in his PokerStars Blog interview. “I enjoy it. It’s definitely the most fun to play against strong players.”

Now all eyes are on the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event, which should be heading towards Day 3 at the time of writing.
