Happy Birthday, Dear Community!
Two years of PokerStrategy.com, four years of the development of a great idea: teaching people about poker.
January 18th, 2005 might not have been the birth of the idea, but it was the first, humble web appearance of PokerStrategy.de. It was no more than a small poker community for the back then small amount of German poker aficionados. Not more than a forum with a front page in military camouflage paint – almost symbolic for the niche existence our community was certain to experience initially.
Back in 2004, and outside of the Anglo-Saxon world, poker was nothing more than a game of luck which had its publicity (not popularity)
thanks to Hollywood and the school grounds. Each serious academic would have equalised a serious preoccupation with this infernal stuff with the selling of one's soul.
Nonetheless, poker already boomed back then, at least in the USA and it turned into a flawless game of strategy which could be effectively beaten with skills and the correct analytical approach. Thanks to the enormous sums the millions of amateurs invested, it was certainly an enticing combination in an area where even chess, the game of kings, often spends a fruitless existence and is only held up professionally by its elitist circles.
In the middle of this year, PokerStrategy.de already had a few hundred enthusiastic members to show. A first live-meeting and the back then exclusive Cooperation with PartyPoker date back to '05.
In March, the internationalisation began with the English-speaking community. Many videos, a completely new website and events like the big freeroll for a Porsche marked the year. PokerStrategy.de moves to PokerStrategy.org.uk.
PokerStrategy.com is being founded. Instead of just being a forum, PokerStrategy.com now is a full-fledged community website with quality content and offering services in many different languages. Not all content is freely available anymore. In contrast to PokerStrategy.de, PokerStrategy.com now works with man poker rooms. This new concept proves to be extremely successful, so at the end of 2007, we count more than half a million members.
A multitude of educational videos and other content in comparison to the previous year. Far over $1,000,000 in paid out promotion monies. The one-millionth PokerStrategist. Many new affiliated poker rooms. In many aspects, a year of superlatives.
The third year of PokerStrategy.com
– we mainly hope that it will be affected by the successes of our members as it was the case in the last four years. To contribute our share, we pledge to improve as never before in terms of content, concepts and technology. Our benchmark will be your satisfaction, your praise & your criticism.
For us, PokerStrategy.com is synonymous with the community. It includes the active as well as passive members, the hand evaluators, moderators, coaches and video producers. The staff members as well as the freelancers. In this spirit, "Happy Birthday PokerStrategy.com!" means for us "Thank you all!" as well.
