Have bracelet unboxings replaced the bracelet ceremony?

The online World Series of Poker is so different to its live counterpart in many ways, but this is one we are not sure anybody saw coming.

The WSOP had pretty much done away with bracelet ceremonies anyway, which used to take place the day after a victory and the national anthem of the winner's country would be played as it is at the Olympics. Now, it seems, the online version of the WSOP has something fitting to replace it. 

If you are unfamiliar with the YouTube trend of 'unboxing' it is a surprisingly popular genre of video where people simply open the box of an item they purchased. This is largely because potential buyers of the product want to see exactly what they will get, although as poker has seen, now and then there is a surprise (yes this really is the most watched poker clip ever on Twitch). 

If you were wondering how online winners get their bracelet, they get shipped in the post, so naturally this has led to an 'unboxing' video for the most coveted prize in poker. Here is Matt Bode who won the $500 Super Turbo event for $97,901 receiving his WSOP gold:

It seems whether you win a bracelet in a parking lot or have to get it delivered by Fedex, it's still as exciting as ever to call yourself a World Series of Poker Champion.
