High Stakes Action At The Tables And Also On TV Again Soon

After the record winnings in October, there was quite some action at the High Stakes tables on Full Tilt this month as well. For the fans of of the TV series "High Stakes Poker", there are also some good news: In December, the 5th season will take place!

The month of October wrote history. On a single day, the record for the biggest online pot of all times was broken several times, and the run on the High Stakes table on Full Tilt Poker was enormous.

Especially the already written off Hold'em tables had a revival, due to which a new table was opened. 'Ivey Heaven' now offers eight players besides Phil Ivey a seat, to also play poker for "the big money" in a full-ring situation.

Antonius successful in early November

Last month's action could hardly be repeated again in November. Nonetheless, there were quite a few interesting hands and big pots. Beneficiary of many of them was once again Patrik Antonius. According to highstakesdb, he made a profit of about $1.5 million this month so far.

Ivey against Matt Hawrilenko

While Antonius was seen at the tables quite often and for extended times, Ivey (picture on the left) only played a few smaller sessions. However, they were crowned with success as he was also able to add over $1.5 million in winnings to his bankroll.

One of these sessions was against Matt Hawrilenko in a Limit Hold'em match. After two and a half hours, Ivey left the table with a plus of $300,000. Amongst others, a $64,000 pot took place which happened as follows:

Hawrilenko : Seat 1 - Stack size: $76,979. Ivey : Seat 2 - Stack size: $342,814.
Hawrilenko puts the small blind of $1,000. Ivey puts the big blind of $2,000.

Hastings very successful

Besides Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius, Brian Hastings (picture on the right) also did quite well after a disappointing start into the month. He played against 'Ziigmund' on another new table, called 'Ivey Mix', on which the variants Pot-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha are played. Hastings had sat down at the table with $100,000 and left it with an awe-inspiring profit of $750,000.

The biggest pot amounted to $408,000. On the flop of , he held top pair with . 'Ziigmund' went all-in and was still in the lead at this moment in time, as he held two pairs with . However, the turn card already gave Hastings the higher two pairs - the river had no further influence.

 

High Stakes on TV

Besides the online High Stakes, we also have some news about the popular TV series "High Stakes Poker". After rumours that the series should be canned, the fifth season will now be recorded. From December 19th to 21st, the stars will have to bring along at least $250,000 to the table in the 'Golden Nugget' this time, instead of the usual $100,000.

Henry Orenstein, Executive Producer of the series, emphasised in an interview that "High Stakes Poker" has turned into a "must-see" for poker players and -fans all around the world. Therefore, he and the whole team are "happy again to see top amateurs and poker pros risk thousands of dollars in the new season".

Who exactly will sit down at the table is not known so far. However, Mori Eskandari, a further Executive Producer of the show promised the viewers "thrills" when they "bring a mix of poker players to the table".
