High Stakes: Good Weekend For Antonius

The start into July at the High Stakes tables was rather unpleasant for Patrik Antonius. Over the weekend, he earned over half a million dollars though.

Over $1.5M Antonius had already lost at the High Stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker since the beginning of the month. Since a few days though, things look brighter again. Over the weekend, the Finn confirmed his upswing: From Friday to Sunday, 1,304 hands were tracked for the Antonius in which he earned a plus of $514,303.

Antonius against 'pr1nnyraid'
On Railheaven ($500/$1,000) he played a No-Limit Hold'em session against 'pr1nnyraid'. When Antonius left the table, $227,000 had changed owners. The whole session could have gone the other way though. From 'pr1nnyraid''s point of view, it probably should have.
In the decisive hand, Antonius (Stack: about $160,000) raised from the small blind to $3,000. 'pr1nnyraid' called (Stack: about $135,000). The flop came with . 'pr1nnyraid' check-raised the $5,000 conti-bet by Antonius on the flop to about $18,000, and the Finn called.
Turn: . Conti-bet by 'pr1nnyraid' to $26,000, and Antonius called.
River: . 'pr1nnyraid' bet $88,000 all-in, and Antonius called again. 'pr1nnyraid' flipped over for the flopped set, but Antonius held and thus hit the higher set on the river.

Antonius almost break-even
Antonius' monthly balance now still has a loss of $329,210 to show after this successful weekend. If the Finn keeps on performing like this though, he should quickly get out of the red and back into the green zone. Especially on the variance-rich High Stakes Omaha tables, swings of half a million dollars are no exception.
But there is also the case of H.O.R.S.E. Since January, Antonius blew away over $550,000 on Full Tilt in the supreme discipline. Only Gus Hansen lost even more in H.O.R.S.E..
