Ivey To Catch 1st Place In All-Time Money List
Phil Ivey has long since been one of the best poker players. Yet, it is still Jamie Gold who has been keeping the 1st place in the All-Time-Money-List. Thanks to his place at the WSOP Main Event, however, Ivey is on the verge of pushing Gold back onto the 2nd place.
It was the largest ever poker tournament in the history of poker. An unbelievable number of 8,773 players created a a prize pool of $82,512,162 at the WSOP Main Event in 2006.
Back then, Jamie Gold (pictured right) won a breathtaking $12 million, which brought him to the top of the All-Time Money List. Currently, he is ranked first with a total of $12,198,041 - just $198,041 more than his WSOP prize money.
Jamie Gold actually is one of the most polarising personalities in the world of poker. This is the result of not just the fact that one win catapulted him to the 1st place of the list, but also due to an argument, which had erupted later about a share of this record win, and that Gold had pretended to be unable to recall at first.
One Step Away From The Throne
Now, Phil Ivey (pictured right) could just bring about the long-desired change at the top of the All-Time Money List. His place at the final table at the WSOP Main Event has secured him a minimum prize money of $1,263,602 just like the nine other final table players.
Winning a Main Event would then be just the high point of a near perfect carrier for Ivey.
