Ivey told to return $10m to the Borgata

Phil Ivey has been ordered by court to pay back the $10m from his long running edge-sorting case against the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.

While the court accepts that Ivey’s game was not fraudulent, it was ruled that he and his partner Cheung Yin Sun, had broken the terms of an accepted code of conduct, or contract, on four separate occasions and that the money must be returned to the house.

Ivey’s lawyer explained that an appeal will be lodged, adding “What this ruling says is a player is prohibited from combining his skill and intellect and visual acuity to beat the casino at its own game”.

Spin & Go makes another millionaire

For the third time in a year, PokerStars’ spinning jackpot game has created a millionaire. The game, which multiplies the buy-in by as much as 10,000, did exactly that in $100 entry game, creating a $1m winner-takes-all prize. That winner turned out to be a history teacher from Bermuda with the screen name jrww86. He becomes the 16th overall since the format launched almost two years ago.

Poker’s pizza winner loves a slice

When William Kassouf recently took down the High Roller at the EPT in Prague, he beat Canadian Patrick Serda into second place.  For his runner up scoop, Serda walked away with €719,000 after slicing up a deal and yet has admitted that he plans to carry on serving up the slices in his day job too, as a waiter in the Gusto Pizzeria in Winnipeg.

“I’m super happy to go back. I love it there; great people and great regulars, and I’d be happy to go back”, explained Serda, who plans to play in the PokerStars Championship Bahamas as well as the Aussie Millions in the new year and, like a good calzone, knows when to fold.
