Jason Mercier looking to make some bracelet bets
Would you give the PokerStars pro action in his latest proposed bet for the series?
The WSOP starts today, with open events starting tomorrow, and one of the games most prolific players is betting on himself, again.
Jason Mercier is so confident he will bag a fourth gold bracelet this year he has turned to Twitter to request 3-to-1 odds he can do it:
Looking to get 3 to 1 on winning a bracelet this Wsop (Vegas only) any takers? Lmk, will need escrow / post if I don't know u well etc

Mercier has been publicly offering bracelet bets on himself every year for a long time now. He did so last year, coming off the back of a very successful SCOOP, and won his third WSOP bracelet.
This year he did well in SCOOP again, coming 2nd in the Player of the Series race, and this writer believes that is a good predictor of him winning gold again this year.
He may not have the biggest bracelet bet this year, that currently falls to Dzmitry Urbanovich, who stands to win $2 million from Vanessa Selbst if he wins three bracelets in his debut WSOP. However, even Urbanovich recognises Mercier is a dangerous player to bet against:
I'll do myself vs anyone except Mercier who win more #WSOP bracelets this year. If both got same amount (0-0, 1-1, 2-2...) bet is off. DM me

One player who might give Mercier action, however, is Doug Polk, who recently has been involved in a Twitter battle with Mercier, where he has been saying the PokerStars pro is a 'bad reg' who has run way above expectation.
All of which is one of those elements that makes the World Series of Poker much more fun for those of us observing it on the rail. Expect more crazy bracelet bets as the series progresses.
