Jeff Madsen Wins 2010 Borgata Winter Open

Madsen topped the field of 766 players in the $3,500 Championship Event and takes home $625k for his efforts. This latest win puts his career winnings total at over $3 million.

The 2010 Borgata Winter Open Championship Event featured a prize pool of over $2.5 million, with 766 players signing up for the $3,500 buy-in event. It was the showcase event in a series which featured a total of 24 different tournaments.

Jeff Madsen emerged as champion after defeating Sirous Jamshidi in a heads-up match that lasted for close to two hours.

After his win, Madsen said, "It feels good to get these big wins and to continue to prove myself in the poker world."

The latest victory will add to Madsen's impressive resume, which includes 2 WSOP bracelets and more than $3 million in career tournament prizes. This is also the third largest career cash sum for the 24 year old Full Tilt Poker pro, ranking only behind his two WSOP wins in 2006.

Madsen (pictured right) and Jamshidi went into the  heads-up match almost even in chips. Both started off cautiously but Madsen dominated proceedings and raced to a 2 to 1 chip lead, only one hour into the match.

By the time he made the first and final all-in call of the match, Madsen had already taken control of more than 90% of the chips in play. With just 10 big blinds left, Jamshidi went all-in with and Madsen called with .

The board came and Madsen's pair of kings was good enough for him to pocket the $625,006 first place prize. Jamshidi earned $367,794 for his second place finish.
