With large portions of the poker world recovering from the Aussie Millions and the Borgata Winter Open, EPT Deauville still got off to an impressive start with 307 runners for Day 1A.

This was not a far cry from the 339 who played Day 1A last year and with even more players expected today for Day 1B, it should prove as big an event as ever.

Not a great deal of big names were out in show on Day 1A, but some of the notables among the 165 survivors included Vanessa Rousso, Isabelle Mercier, Arnaud Mattern, Antoine Saout, Elisabeth Hille and Marvin
'xcrash154' Rettenmaier.

The overall chip leader is PokerStars online qualifier Jesper Feddersen who is only playing his third live event ever. However he didn't let newbie nerves stop him from bagging up an impressive lead of 188,900.

Some notables who were not so lucky on Day 1A include David Vamplew, Jonathan Duhamel, Eugene Katchalov, Dimitar 'ddanchev' Danchev and Martin Staszko.

It is too late to play in EPT Deauville, but qualifiers have already begun for one of the most prestigious tournaments on the EPT circuit, EPT London.

The £5,000+£250 main event takes place at the Landmark Hotel in London between March 10-16.

Last time out Benny 'psychobenny' Spindler defeated 690 other players to take down this event and the £750,000 first prize. Previous champions also include Vicky Coren and David Vamplew.

The ways to qualify are almost unlimited at PokerStars including cash satellites, steps satellites, FPP satellites, sit and go satellites or buying in direct with FPPs.

Qualifiers start as from as little as £1.10 or 300 FPPs, with direct £530 satellites running several times a week, and increasing in regularity as the event gets nearer.
