Miracle comebacks do happen which John Monnette has proven by taking down the $1,500 Triple Draw bracelet at the WSOP.

Another player has surged ahead in the overall bracelet rankings as John Monnette has won his 5th bracelet.

He took down the $1,500 Triple Draw title for $145,846, defeating a field of 522 and a final table that included former PokerStrategy staff member Patrick Leonard.

Proof that anything can happen in poker, Monette had been whittled down to half a big bet against his heads-up opponent Christopher Chung, only to recover to take the title. He is also now in contention for the Player of the Year title with two previous final tables so far in 2023.

This is Monnette's 5th bracelet, all of them in different disciplines. The Limit Triple Draw title, however, was extra special:

"It's kinda cool, yah. The no-limit deuce, I felt that was one of my better games, when I got that one, it was really cool, and then the hold 'em one was pretty awesome because I just grew up playing limit hold 'em… and then this one, 2-7 is a game I just played a ton like 15 years ago pre-Black Friday. It was kind of cool to get back to the roots, with the last two [being] Limit Hold 'em and Triple Draw, games that I just grinded for years."
