Lex Veldhuis gives up Twitch Partner status

The biggest name in streaming had some strong words to say about Twitch and is looking to expand his reach on other platforms.

Lex Veldhuis, arguably the biggest streamer in poker, has given up a lucrative Twitch Partner deal to create more content for other platforms, in particular Discord and YouTube. 

Twitch Partners can monetise their streams in ways non-partners cannot, including extra ad revenue, money for subs and merchandise. Lex revealed that he was making at least $60,000 per year as a partner.

"Poker is thriving on the other platforms"

The main reason was the freedom he would get from no longer being a partner. Right now, he is limited with what he can do on Discord and YouTube because of his deal. Partner status also means you must stream for a consistent number of days per month and currently Lex has to travel to play online poker as it is prohibited in the Netherlands. He has two young children and that was proving very difficult. 

We can expect to see lots more of him on YouTube and he will be streaming simultaneously on both Twitch and YouTube. 

He also had some scathing words for Twitch, saying that he felt they no longer believe in poker because of the recent slots scandal that has taken place there. Poker on the other platforms, he said, is thriving by comparison.
