Liv Boeree Wins EPT San Remo

The PokerStars European Poker Tour in San Remo reached the final table, and Liv Boeree won the €1.25 million and the EPT title after defeating Jakob Carlsson in heads-up.

The European Poker Tour in San Remo sponsored by PokerStars played its final table on Wednesday, when 8 players sat down to play for the €1.25 million first place prize.

This was the largest EPT to date, as 1,240 players registered for this event, generating a prize pool of more than €6 million.

Jakob Carlsson started the day as chip leader with a stack of more than 13 million chips, while the second largest stack was a little over the 5 million mark.

The play eventually reached the heads-up phase, and the initial chip leader Jakob Carlsson faced Liv Boeree (pictured right) for the €1,250,000 prize, the EPT trophy and a seat at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final which will start on the 25th of April.

Boeree had a stack of 23,215,000 while Carlsson was sitting at 13,965,000 when the heads-up started, but Boeree later on, she increased her lead even further.

In the final hand of the event, Boeree raised from the small blind with 5s5d and Carlsson went all in holding Ah6d. Boeree called and the board came Td Ks 8s 7s Jc and Jakob Carlsson was out in second place, earning €750,000.

"I can't believe I won", Liv Boeree told PokerStarsBlog. "This is incredible. Everyone today played so good. Jakob was the one person I didn't want to get heads-up against, he's such a good player. But I ran well and I played good."
