Ask anyone who the best player in the world is without a major Main Event title (EPT, WPT, WSOP, MILLIONS) and a lot of people would have told you Manig swordfish007 Loeser was right up there, until now.

The German tournament star has just defeated a field of 922 entries in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event to take down €603,777 and one of the most coveted titles in poker.

He denied China their first ever EPT victory as he beat Wei Huang heads-up. A three-way ICM deal at one of the longest EPT finales saw those two men plus Viktor Ketzenberger all guarantee half a million Euros each.

Also at the final table was Main Event champion Ryan Riess who was unable to take down another major but did help his one time claim to being 'the best in the world' with this remarkable call for his tournament life with ten high:

"I can’t think straight at all right now," Loeser told PokerNews after the event. "It was a super long final table. It was just really exhausting, they all played so good and put so much pressure on you. It’s just really exhausting to sit there so long and try to make good decisions."

Next up for the European Poker Tour is the EPT Open in Madrid between June 22 and 30.
