Mateos becomes youngest player with three bracelets

Spaniard wins the WSOP $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship as his excellent 2017 continues.

22-year-old Spanish player Adrian Mateos collected his third WSOP bracelet last Friday and in doing so became the youngest player in WSOP history to win three.

The event was the $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship in which Mateos outlasted a field of 129 players, including American veteran John Smith in the final round with whom he shares a 48-year age gap.

Along the way, Mateos beat Ian O'Hara, Eric Wasserson, Taylor Paur, Ryan Hughes and Daniel Negreanu before dispatching Charlie Carrel in the semi-final.

For Smith, defeat is a familiar feeling having lost in the final of the same event last year but for Mateos continues a great year so far which includes a profitable victory in the Monte Carlo Eight Max Shot Clock.

The win earned the player $324, 470 and sees him take his second bracelet in two years and his third overall having won the WSOP Europe Main Event in 2013 for €1,000,000 when he was just 18.

His second bracelet came courtesy of his win this time last year in the $1,500 Summer Solstice No-Limit Hold'em which was worth $409,171 adds to his live earning of $9,172,532.
