NBC has recently announced a new poker-themed game show Face the Ace which will begin in August. The show will be hosted by Sopranos star Steve Schirripa, but the spotlight will be on the contestants.

Each contestant on the show will get a chance to play heads-up against some of the best poker players in the world. He or she will choose one of the four doors and face whoever lurks behind.

If the contestant loses, he or she is out, but in case of a victory, the person can either walk away with the earned money or challenge a second pro. There are three potential matches in total and up to $1 million on the line.

Face the Ace pros will include likes of Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Mike Matusow, Andy Bloch, Chris Ferguson, Jennifer Harman, John Juanda, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Allen Cunningham, Erik Seidel and Phil Gordon.

Full Tilt Poker players will have the opportunity to earn a spot as a contestant on the show by playing in freerolls. The prize packages will include a five-day, four-night stay in Las Vegas along with $500 spending money and an audition for the show.

The show is sponsored by Full Tilt Poker and it is currently contracted to seven one-hour shows. The series premiere is scheduled for Saturday, 1st of August.
