Negreanu Claws Back Victory from Isildur1 in the Big Rematch

$130,000 down and $20,000 away from losing the SuperStar Showdown rematch with Isildur1, Negreanu put together a sick comeback that put an end to Isildur1's five match winning streak.

Last week, Isildur1 took down Negreanu in round 1 of their SuperStar Showdown match-up, managing to take his $150k in just 1,439 hands.

The rematch was set for last Sunday and things started to look bleak for Negreanu pretty early on.

The rules were the same as usual - four tables of NL $50/$100 with $150k each. 2,500 hands or whoever goes busto first.

After 1,300 hands, Negreanu was clinging on for dear life having lost roughly 80% of his starting bankroll. He'd lost a few big flips, been out-drawn a few times and was staring down the barrel of a second consecutive defeat.

The turnaround was pretty sick and started when Negreanu won a $17,600 pot with top two against Isildur1's middle two.

Shortly after, Isildur1's untimely five-bet shove for $27,550 with J10 over Negreanu's $2,400 four-bet holding QQ secured Negreanu a $30,400 pot.

A flopped straight that held up against Isildur1's flush draw and a couple of overpair vs top pair situations set Negreanu on his way to victory.

There was a flopped set-over-set cooler for $36,300 that bumped up Negreanu's lead and when all was said and done, Negreanu walked away from the 2,500 hand battle $26,500 up.

After his incredible comeback, Negreanu tweeted: "I won the rematch! Was down 130k then made a run and won 26,500 EV adjusted 55k. Wow I feel amazing right now. Isildur1 is awesome. So good."
