Niall Farrell wins the Triple Crown

The Scottish pro becomes the 8th player to win the poker Triple Crown after taking down the €25,000 WSOPE High Roller.

The once illusive poker Triple Crown has been claimed for the third time this year after Niall Farrell took down the €25,000 WSOPE High Roller for €745,287, to go alongside his WPT Caribbean and EPT Malta titles.  

He defeated a very tough final table which included Main Event champion Ryan Riess and former Main Event finalists Benjamin Pollak, Sylvain Loosli and Antoine Saout (Interestingly Pollak and Saout were both at the same final this year, and Riess and Loosli the same one in 2013, so this was quite the reunion). 

Earlier this year Harrison Gimbel and Mohsin Charania both completed the Triple Crown at the WSOP, to join Gavin Griffin, Roland De Wolfe, Jake Cody, ElkY and Davidi Kitai* in the very small group of people to win a WSOP, WPT and EPT/PokerStars Championship title. Perhaps now is the time to make the poker Grand Slam the next great accolade?

This win was also enough to see Farrell leapfrog David Vamplew to make the top spot in the Scotland All Time Money list, with $4,401,838 in live earnings. 

The next big event for the High Rollers is the €111,111 One Drop High Roller, which starts today.

*Many do not consider Kitai to be a legitimate Triple Crown winner because his WPT title was in a closed invitational event.
