Our Successes: Yoghi Wins FTP 200k GTD, Runner-Up In Super Tuesday

The Dutch Diamond member Yoghi had a great week so far, winning the Full Tilt Poker $200,000 Guaranteed and finishing second in the PokerStars Super Tuesday for a combined prize of almost $100,000.

Our Successes

yoghi has had a very nice run in the past few days, making almost $100,000 in two major online MTTs: the Full Tilt Poker $200,000 Guaranteed and the PokerStars Super Tuesday.

1st place in the full tilt 200k guaranteed
FTP 200k GTDJust a few days ago, yoghi participated in the $200,000 Guaranteed Rebuy tournament on Full Tilt Poker, which had a buy-in of $150.

The Full Tilt Poker $200,000 Guaranteed also gave the player the possibility to rebuy and/or buy add-ons, offer that yoghi did not refuse. That proved to be a wise investment, as he saw himself advancing deep in the tournament, eventually winning the whole event.

He reached the final table, got to the heads-up phase and eventually won the whole event after he defeated player Sumpas.

For his achievement, he was rewarded a nice cash prize of $51,450. Congratulations to him and best of luck in his upcoming tournaments!

2nd place in the pokerstars super tuesday
Super TuesdayThe PokerStars Super Tuesday was yoghi's next target, and he did manage get past 313 players, thus reaching the heads-up play against player GetDowAndGo.

However, this is where things became swingy and we could see yoghi going from as low as 5:1 compared to his opponent, up to having almost half the chips in play. The final hand was quite unlucky for him, though:

The blinds were 7,500/15,000 and 1,500 ante, with Yoghi in the big blind. GetDowAndGo calls and Yoghi raises to 34,000. GetDowAndGo calls and the players see the flop consisting of 3c4cAd. Yoghi bets 30,000, and then GetDowAndGo raises to 105,000. After tanking for a while, Yoghi decides to shove and gets insta-called: Yoghi - 3s3d, GetDowAndGo - AhTh. Things were looking good for Yoghi as he had over 97% equity with his set of threes. Even when the turn brought the Td his opponent just had 4 remaining outs. Unfortunately, the river was one of these few outs his opponent needed - the Ac, which meant Yoghi was out in second place.

Nevertheless, this was a great achievement for our PokerStrategist, as he was rewarded $47,250 for his finish.

$300,000 so far in 2009

But these two tournament finishes are not the only things yoghi can be proud of: his graph for 2009 so far shows he is up by more than $200,000. Combine that with these two recent finishes and we get a profit of over $300,000 in just half a year!

This is certainly a great achievement and we can only wish him even more profit in this other half of the year.
