PLO grinder makes a $300,000 prop bet

In today's Daily Rewind we find out why Isaac Haxton is betting $85k against a PLO grinder and break more records in Barcelona.

Six-figure PLO bet

The community's penchant for PLO over the last few years has been evident for all to see and, thanks to this wave of interest, we now have a six-figure prop bet to rail.

Online regular Bren 'YaAaRnY' Lenton recently took to 2+2 claiming he could achieve the following: a 10.000bb profit at $5/$10+ over the course of 31 days.

Additional stipulations to the bet include: a minimum of 70,000 hands must be played, no heads-up tables are allowed and the odds of the bet will be 2:1 in Lenton's favour.

Almost as soon as the best was proposed a slew of players rushed to bet against the PLO hopeful, including Isaac Haxton who personally has $85,000 on Lenton failing.

In total, Lenton has $100,000 at risk against the community's $200,000.

The action is currently underway and Lenton will be providing regular updates via a thread on 2+2.

EPT Barcelona's latest record

EPT Barcelona continued to break records last night after the €10,000 High Roller welcomed an impressive number of grinders.

Despite registration being open until the start of Day 2, 378 total entries were collected on Day 1 to make the event the largest event of its kind in EPT history.

To put things into perspective, the largest €10,000 event prior to yesterday's opening session came during Season 10 in Vienna when 181 entry fees were collected.

During the first session a number of pros were on display, but by the time things were brought to a close it was the UK's Stephen Chidwick leading the way.

The young Brit managed to bag up 299,000 chips to lead the likes of Dan Smith (292,600), Jason Mercier (291,400) and Niall Farrell (235,800) into Day 2.

Swap FPPs for charitable donations

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has given the poker community another chance to show off its benevolent side and now PokerStars is taking things one step further.

Instead of dictating when players can donate to a cause, the site will now allow players to turn their FPPs into donations.

According to PokerStars' Head of Corporate Giving, Sue Hammett, players can now convert 1,200 FPPs into a $20 donation.

To kick off the initiative, PokerStars has chosen CARE International (a disaster relief charity) and Cancer Research UK as the two charities players can donate to.

However, if the scheme proves successful, Hammett has stated that the site will expand the list of charities in the near future.

Another losing day for Chun Lei Zhou allowed 'Crazy Elior' to top the latest high stakes leaderboard. After racing through 750 hands, the online grinder was able to call time on his session after raking in $456,941.

Trailing someway behind 'Crazy Elior' in the daily rankings was Phil Galfond. Despite collecting a comparatively modest $109,849, much of Galfond's haul came courtesy of Phil Ivey who dropped $207,174 in the last 24 hours.
