PartyPoker World Open: Sam Trickett Claims the Title

The English poker player Sam Trickett took the spotlight in PartyPoker World Open that was held at the Palm Beach casino in Mayfair, London.

He was one of the seven remaining players in the race for the prestiguous title. While likes of Andrew Robl fell short early on, Trickett managed to make his way all the way to the heads-up stage where he faced a tough opponent - Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

Trickett proved to be the better player for the day and took home the title along with the $200,000 in prize money. The final hand of the heads-up match saw Trickett rivering a two pair with to beat Timoshenko flopped top pair of aces with .

Phil Laak celebrates life

Phil Laak (pictured right) has been attracting a lot of attention from the poker community this year. His poker career has been going upwards, but he put all that at risk in a recent ATV (all-terrain vehicle) adventure with his long-time friend Antonio Esfandiari.

The most talkative duo on the poker scene went crazy in ATV-ing which resulted in Laak breaking 7 ribs and needing some plastic plates in his eyes. The surgery went fine and Laak is seemingly back to track, though with a few subtle changes. This accident has motivated him to celebrate life and the logical choice for him was something he had in mind for years - getting a mohawk. Touched by the dire situation in Cambodia, she has started an "All In 4 Kids" organization to help kids in Cambodia and building a school for 500 kids is one of the first things she hopes will make a change there.
