Poker dealer caught stealing chips in his socks
We round-up some of the stories you may have missed, including a criminal croupier, the first GPL team and Squeezy makes an appearance.
Cromwell croupier caught stealing chips
A poker dealer in a West London casino has been arrested for stealing thousands of pounds in poker chips. The croupier managed to smuggle the chips out of the venue by slipping them into his pocket then using a tube to funnel them into his socks.
Bosses at the Cromwell Mint Casino, part of the Genting Group, became suspicious after studiously watching their former employee during his gaming sessions. Thereafter, it was arranged for security staff to search the dealer when, according to sources, they discovered a bounty of poker chips on his person.
Working with a female accomplice, his final score is unknown, although £12,000 in cash was discovered by police at his flat. Despite the theft, the croupier received a mere caution.
Moneymaker to be first GPL franchise leader
The forthcoming Global Poker League (GPL) have announced their first franchise leader is to be the man credited with sparking the online poker boom, Chris Moneymaker.
Moneymaker, will now be charged with lighting the next generation of poker gaming with his Las Vegas based team imaginatively named the ‘Las Vegas Moneymakers’.
The league will be made up of twelve teams and launches in Los Angeles on February 25, but the names of the players composing the Moneymakers team is still to be announced, along with the other eleven teams, players and cities, all of which are due to be named next week.

Squeezy resurfaces in……. Michigan!
Good ol' Squeezy, the ever popular PokerStratey.com mascot, has been spotted or, at least, it looks like it after his doppleganger, played here by a weirdly shaped tomato, was unearthed by an elderly couple in Michigan, US last September.
After her fame making find, thrilled veggie/fruit grower Marie Davidek, admitted her first thoughts were “Gee, that’s kind of strange”, before lucky hubby Bob added: ‘I can’t believe that he grew that way.’
Despite not wearing his regulation logo, our hero managed to get himself a global audience. Here is the duck, sorry tomato, appearing on a US news network report. Way to go Squeezy!
