PokerStars Caribbean Adventure: High Roller Event Day 2

The High Roller event of the PCA entered day two. With 84 entrants the prize pool is set at $2,058,000 – granting $576,240 to the winner.

PokerNoob and philbort were among the 54 players that started on Day 2. They would both continue playing until only 24 players were left.

Of the two, it was PokerNoob who got to a great head start. He opened the first seven of ten hands and won them all. He started the day with 124,400 in chips at blinds of 500-1,000 and we reported him to have over 300,000 after just two levels.

Pokernoob busts Cada's bluff

Recent World Series Main Event winner Joe Cada was seated at his table, but PokerNoob wasn’t intimidated by his title, as he showed in the next hand:

Referring to this hand, PokerNoob (pictured right) later said:

"The hand vs Joe Cada was the key hand of the last level. I'm not really sure if my play was optimal there. I might have given Joe a looser range than he actually had."

"He told me he had Q-To after the hand, which doesn't tell me that much. If he had shown A-K or A-Q, this usually means that he's bluffing quite often. But even if he does, he always still has outs."

The hand that finally put PokerNoob well over 300,000 in chips was when he made a clever call down against an unknown opponent:

When the 25th player bust and we were down to the final 24, PokerNoob managed to bag 280,000 chips, which is 100,000 more than the average, putting him in 4th place.

Philbort bites the dust after two table changes

For Philbort (pictured right), the day went less spectacular. Of the 82,100 he started the day with, he was left with 30,900 at blinds of 600 – 1,200 and ante 100 before he moved to the next table. He said: "This is like the best spot of the tournament". Little did he know that only a few minutes later he was again to be moved to another table.

The very first hand he got at the last table he moved to was Q-Jo. He open-raised it and was directly faced with an important decision as he got 3-bet by a young player whose name eludes us. He decided to go for the all-in and was promptly called by pocket kings. He almost got there with Q-Jo by flopping a pair and a gutshot. Unfortunately, neither of the two came on later streets and he busted out of the tournament.

At 18:00 CET, the play will continue with blinds at 1,200 – 2,400 and a running ante of 200. PokerNoob will start the day with 280,000 – which puts him 4th in overall.

Main Event Results

The results of the final table were out yesterday - Harrison Gimbel won the Main Event of the PCA and took home $2.2 Million in prize money. The 19 year old US American was able to knock out Barry Shulman, who qualified in third place, before emerging victorious in a heads-up against Ty Reiman. This makes him the youngest player of all time to win the PCA Main Event. In the final hand of the tournament, Gimbel was all-in pre-flop with ,  against Reiman's , making him the clear favourite. Gimbel defended his lead and emerged the winner of the PCA Main Event, after playing 32 blind levels.
