PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event starts today

The first run out for the rebranded EPT sees poker’s brightest stars head to the Atlantis Casino on Bahamas’ Paradise Island.

The first ever PokerStars Championship is currently underway and today, in the Bahamas, its Main Event begins at the Atlantis Resort and Casino.

This event, the first in a new restructured lineup, replaces the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, formerly part of the European Poker Tour, and whose Main Event was last year won by Canadian Mike Watson who took home $728,325.

As we announced a back in August, the rebranding of their events is an effort by PokerStars to distinguish their top tier events from the tour which has outgrown its European borders.

As for today’s PokerStars Championship Main Event, Day 1A starts at 11AM local time with 1B, beginning tomorrow at the same time. The Main Event will take most of the coming week to whittle it down to a final table and, from next Tuesday, you can view proceedings on a live stream here at PokerStrategy.com.
