PokerStars Launches Italian Poker Tour

PokerStars and poker tours are becoming a regular addition to the schedule and the trend is set to continue with the announcement that the Italian leg of the tour is to start.

PokerStars is looking to further its dominance of the online and live poker scene by launching the Italian Poker Tour. PokerStars.it, the Italian-only version of PokerStars, launched in October 2008 after the site was granted a license by the Italian government.

The popularity of the site and the subsequent calls for an Italian leg were duly acted upon.
PokerStars is really happy with the developments in live and online poker in Italy,” said Fabio Angeli Bufalini, Italian country manager for the site.

The record-breaking turnout for the San Remo leg of the PokerStars Season Five EPT [event] makes us hopeful that the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour will arouse huge interest in Italy and all over Europe.

PokerStarsThe Italian Poker Tour is the latest in a long line of PokerStars sponsored events. The European Poker Tour, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, the Latin American Poker Tour, and the Russian Poker Tour are all staples of the PokerStars locker.

The event is scheduled for the beginning of June and taking place in the fabulous tourist resort of San Remo. On top of that they also sponsor the World Cup of Poker and the money bags PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

When the Italian Tour kicks off it is set to be a very attractive proposition for many of the European based players. The beauty of the location and the expected prize fund will draw out many of the big names. Hoping to be among them will be Italian poker pros Dario Minieri and Luca Pagano, both members of Team PokerStars.
