PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun: Vanessa Selbst Captures the Title
Vanessa Selbst won her first NAPT title and $750,000 to go along with it. She was in good form throughout the tournament, and had been among the chip leaders since Day 1.
The PokerStars North American Poker Tour at the Mohegan Sun found its first ever champion, as Vanessa Selbst completed her dominant run, to win the title. For her performance, she earned $750,000, which is the biggest prize yet in her poker career.
Selbst, who owns a WSOP bracelet won in 2008, was the odds on favourite for the title after placing herself among the top 3 chip leaders from Day 1. Selbst entered the last day in second place but quickly overcame the deficit within the first hour of final table play.
7th in Women's All Time Money List
Her final opponent was Mike Beasley, who started the day as the chip leader. However, at the start of the heads-up match, Selbst held a 6:1 chip advantage and put it to good use. The match was over in just seven hands.
With this win, 25 year old Selbst joins the elite million dollar club for career tournament winnings. With $1.7 million won since 2006, Selbst is now the 7th most successful female player in terms of tournament earnings. Here are the full results from the final table:
